Reaction continues to pour in following the Vatican’s announcement that the next World Youth Day will take place in South Korea. The Holy Father unveiled the choice during the closing Mass of World Youth Day 2023 in Lisbon. South Korea has a population of 52 million people, around 8% of whom are Catholic. EWTN Vatican Bureau Chief, Andreas Thonhauser, recently spoke with a priest from the East Asian nation who will spearhead World Youth Day 2027. Father Matteo Choi Kwang-Hee, Director of Communications for the Archdiocese of Seoul, joins to discuss what the expectations are for WYD 2027. He explains what the life of the Church is like in Korea and what life is like for the Catholic youth there as well.
