A bell blessed by Pope Francis will be the voice of the unborn in Africa

Pope Francis blessed a bell known as “The Voice of the Unborn,” which was donated by the “Yes to Life” Foundation and will be sent to Zambia, a country in southern Africa, to raise awareness about the importance of life.

This special blessing took place on the morning of Wednesday, March 22, before the start of the General Audience of Pope Francis.

“As a sign of the need to protect human life from conception to natural death, the ‘Yes to Life’ Foundation dedicates to Zambia the bell ‘The Voice of the Unborn’ that I blessed this morning,” explained the Pontiff. “Its sound carries the message that every life is sacred and every life is inviolable,” he added.

The bell, which weighs one ton, will be taken to the Cathedral of the Child Jesus in Lusaka and will also visit other cities in the African country.

Present at the blessing ceremony were the Archbishop of Lusaka (the capital of Zambia), Mons. Alick Banda, and the vice president of the “Yes to Life” Foundation, Bogdan Romaniuk. Romaniuk stated that “around 50 million children worldwide are killed through abortion each year. This bell aims to call for reflection and for these abortions to be reduced every year.”

This is the fourth bell representing the unborn that has been sent to a different place in the world. The other three are located in Poland (where the Foundation is also based), Ukraine, and Ecuador, and more and more countries are showing interest in this initiative promoted by the “Yes to Life” Foundation.
