On June 20, 2023, a nanobook carrying a message of hope and peace will enter into orbit, as part of the “Spei Satelles” mission. The book contains the most important words and images of Pope Francis during the Statio Orbis in St. Peter’s Square on March 27, 2020, when he went alone into the square to pray for all of humanity, struck by COVID. This initiative, promoted by the Dicastery for Communication of the Holy See, will be launched from the Vandenberg launch pad in California, aboard a rocket built by the Politechnic University of Turin and operated by the Italian Space Agency. The nanobook, measuring only two millimeters squared, was realized by Italy’s National Research Council and is a testament to the power of technology and faith coming together. In this video, we hear from Mons. Lucio Ruiz, Secretary of the Dicastery for Communication, and Giorgio Saccoccia, President of the Italian Space Agency, who share their insights on the mission and its significance. #popefrancis #space
