Vatican sends letter of concern to the German Bishops’ Conference

The president of the German Bishops’ Conference is dismissing Vatican concerns over the country’s Synodal Path. The Holy See says it has concerns over a proposal for a new controlling body for the German Church. German Bishop Georg Batzing calls those concerns unfounded. Although he added that the Bishops’ Conference would address the concerns in the letter “in the near future.”

EWTN Vatican Bureau Journalist and Producer, Rudolf Gehrig, joins to tell us more about the letter from the Vatican and what some of the specific concerns were. Gehrig discusses who sent the letter and how involved Pope Francis is in this new debate. On Monday, before the Vatican’s letter to the German Bishops’ Conference was published, there was a press conference in Rome on the worldwide Synod on Synodality. Gehrig was there and shares more about that.
