The Vatican has released the liturgical calendar of Pope Francis for the month of April 2023. According to the calendar, it will be a hectic month for the Pope, with a series of important liturgical events scheduled throughout the month. The month-long schedule will begin with the Easter ceremonies on April 2nd, Palm Sunday, which will be celebrated by commemorating the Lord’s entrance into Jerusalem and Holy Mass at St. Peter’s Square at 10 am.

Other significant events on the calendar include the chrism Mass on April 6th at 9:30 am, the Passion of the Lord on April 7th at 5:00 pm, and the Via Crucis at the Colosseum at 9:15 pm on the same day. The calendar also reveals that the Mass in Coena Domini will be celebrated in a unique location that will be announced shortly before the event.

The Easter Vigil will take place on April 8th at 7:30 pm, while the Mass for Easter Day will be at 10 am in St. Peter’s Square. The Pope will conclude the ceremony from the central Loggia of St. Peter’s Basilica for the Blessing “Urbi et Orbi.”

Moreover, Pope Francis will travel to Budapest on April 28-30 to visit the Catholic Church in Hungary. The details of the visit are still being finalized, but it is expected that the Pope will also visit the tomb of József Mindszenty, a cardinal who was persecuted by the Communist regime in Hungary.

Overall, April 2023 is expected to be a busy month for Pope Francis, with a series of critical liturgical events and a scheduled visit to Hungary. The Pope’s commitment to carrying out his duties despite his age and health concerns is admirable and inspires many.
