Pope Francis Cancels His Audiences Due to Health Reasons for the Second Time in 3 Days

The Vatican Press Office announced early this Monday morning in Rome that Pope Francis’s health “continues to show mild flu-like symptoms, without fever. However, as a precaution, this morning’s audiences have been suspended.”

This is the second time in three days that the papal audiences have been canceled, after a similar measure was taken last Saturday “due to a mild case of the flu.”

On Sunday, Pope Francis did attend his weekly appointment with the faithful gathered in St. Peter’s Square for the Angelus prayer.

Various episodes related to the health of the Pontiff, who is 87 years old, have forced Pope Francis to cancel some of his planned activities over the last few months.

Thus, on January 12, he was forced to distribute the speech intended for the participants of the Symposium of Ecclesiastical Communicators Universities.

He also did not participate as planned in the conference on climate change held in Dubai on December 1, 2023. On November 25, he also had to suspend the events scheduled in his agenda due to a mild flu.
