The Pontifical Academy for Life responded to outrage over comments credited to its president regarding assisted suicide. The Vatican organization says Archbishop Vincenzo Paglia remains strongly against life-ending procedures, in line with Church teaching. The Catechism of the Catholic Church calls euthanasia “murder, gravely contrary to the dignity of the human person.” Pope Francis has also forcefully condemned assisted suicide, saying “We must accompany death, not provoke death or help any kind of suicide.”
