Highlights from Europe’s Continental Assembly in Prague: Synod on Synodality update

The European Continental Assembly took place in Prague, Czech Republic from February 5-12, 2023, coinciding with the 20th anniversary of St John Paul II’s post-synodal exhortation Ecclesia in Europa.

This update on the Synod on Synodality covers the first and second parts of the European Continental Assembly, which brought together 200 delegates and 39 presidents to discuss and evaluate the results of their discussions. The theme guiding the synodal process is “For a Synodal Church. Communion, participation, mission,” and the working document for the Continental Stage aimed to provide a better understanding of how the local Churches are already “walking together.”

This video highlights the insights, priorities, and recurring themes that emerged from the European assembly’s final document and provides a glimpse into the circular dynamic of prophecy and discernment that characterizes the synodal process. Stay tuned for more updates on the XVI Ordinary General Assembly of the Synod of Bishops at the Vatican in October 2023.
