Two significant appointments by Pope Francis were announced today. One is the Pontifical Delegate for the Basilica of St. Anthony in Padua, who will be Diego Giovanni Ravelli, Titular Archbishop of Recanati and Master of Pontifical Liturgical Celebrations. He will assume the position on August 1, 2023, replacing Fabio Dal Cin, who was appointed by Pope Francis in 2017 to represent him at the International Shrine of Padua and also serves as a delegate for the Shrine of Loreto.

The other appointment is the Auxiliary Bishop of the Metropolitan Archdiocese of Esztergom-Budapest (Hungary). This role will be fulfilled by Kornél Fábry, from the clergy of the Diocese of Kaposvár, who was previously the Director of the Pastoral Institute of the Hungarian Episcopal Conference and will hold the titular see of Guardialfiera.

Fábry was born on October 22, 1972, in Budapest, where he studied until his ordination in 2000, and he is incardinated in the Diocese of Kaposvár. He is a member of the Emmanuel Community. He holds a doctorate in Biblical Theology from the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome, and from 2016 to 2020, he served as the Secretary-General of the 52nd International Eucharistic Congress in Budapest.

He is the Director of the Pastoral Institute of the Hungarian Episcopal Conference (since 2021), responsible for the Charismatic Personal Parish in Budapest (since 2022), and the National Delegate for the Jubilee 2025.

Additionally, today the Pope is participating in the Meeting of the Council of Cardinals.
