Vatican: Holiness in Action: Vatican Reflections on Saints, Mercy, and Global Aid

Pope Francis approves Carlo Acutis' canonization, Missionaries of Mercy hold a Jubilee, Mother Angelica remembered, and the Church aids in Ukraine, reflecting on St. Dismas' example.

This week’s inspiring stories from the Vatican:

By approving the canonization of Carlo Acutis, Pope Francis has given teenagers a modern example of holiness. This week, we reflect on young saints—not only for the youth but for all Catholics to imitate.

As Lent continues in Rome, the Missionaries of Mercy gather for their Jubilee event for 24 hours of Eucharistic Adoration and confessions in many languages—an invitation to conversion for all those present.

We also continue to draw inspiration from our foundress, Mother Angelica. On the 9th anniversary of her passing, we celebrated Holy Mass for her at the Shrine of Divine Mercy in Rome.

While world powers remain divided on how to bring an end to the war on European soil in Ukraine, we spoke with the Grand Chancellor of the Order of Malta to learn how the Church is offering aid and diplomatic solutions in troubled regions around the globe.

As Holy Week approaches, we reflect on the profound example of St. Dismas, the Good Thief, crucified alongside Jesus and promised eternal life by Our Lord Himself.
